Dress Etiquette

The Mill Ballet School is committed to the traditions of classical dance etiquette. This begins with a dancer's appearance. Dancers must arrive to class with the appropriate class attire for his/her assigned level. In order to make accurate technical corrections, a teacher must be able to view the student clearly without the obstruction of extra garments.

No loose fitting clothes are permitted. Skirts may only be worn in pointe classes. In winter months, leg warmers and/or sweaters are acceptable. During the summer, girls may wear thin white ankle socks and boys may wear black biker shorts.

Girls hair must be securely fastened in a bun. Boys should maintain short, well groomed hair. No jewelry or watches are permitted. The correct dance attire needed for any given class may be purchased at the school or by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.
