A. Roxey
Founder/Artistic
Director
Mr.
Roxey began his formal training at The Joffrey Ballet in New
York City, to which he was awarded a full scholarship and
later graduated at the top of his class. He went on to dance
professionally with Joffrey Ballet Concert Company under the
direction of Edith A'ddario, Joffrey Ballet II under the direction
of Gage Bush and Richard England and The Joffrey Ballet under
the direction of the late Robert Joffrey. He then joined American
Repertory Ballet and Dayton Ballet as a principal dancer under
the direction of Dermote Burke and Marjorie Mussman. Mr Roxey
has performed in works by George Balanchine, Gerald Arpino,
Robert Joffrey, Paul Taylor, Jose Limon, Alvin Ailey, Twyla
Tharp, William Forsythe, John Cranko, John Butler, Maurice
Petipa, Augusta Bourniville, and many others. He has appeared
as a principal guest artist around the world with his partner
and wife, Melissa Roxey. He has also performed for over 200
hundred regional companies including Eglevsky Ballet, Septime
Webre Dance and The North Star Dance Theatre. Mr. Roxey has
won critical acclaim as a performer from dance critics around
the world. He has served on the faculty of public and private
schools around the country, including Princeton Ballet, Dayton
Ballet, Wright State University, Trotwood Madison City Schools,
Northeast Youth Ballet and most recently, Raritan Valley Community
College. Since becoming founder and director of Roxey Ballet
and associate director of The Mill Ballet School, Mr. Roxey
has choreographed the company's full-length ballets which
include "The Nutcracker", "Dracula", "Pied
Piper of Hamelin", "Peter and the Wolf", Carnival
of the Animals", "Mowgli", "Othello"
and "Cinderella." Roxey has created an impressive
list of over 40 repertory works including "La Baliene
Blanche," "Women and Children to the Left,"
"Write Between the Lines," "Palace of Mirrors,"
"Temptation," "Appreciation," "Inside
the Out," "In Excess of Four," "MLK,"
'Celebrating Diversity," and "Artillery Man."
Mr. Roxey serves as dance program coordinator for the Hunterdon
County Teen Arts Dance Festival and adjudicates for the State
Teen Arts Festival and other festivals around the country.
Mr. Roxey makes brief appearances on stage with Roxey Ballet
and Kitty Lunn's Infinity Dance Theater. Mr Roxey served as
the dance director of Matheny's Schools "Arts Access
Program" for more than a decade. In 2006 Mr Roxey was
honored by VSA New Jersey for outstanding achievement in art
education and recieved the highest honor given in New Jersey
that recognizes the outstanding creative achievement of art
educators and leaders, the New Jersey Governor's Award.
He continues to develop artistic and creative opportunities
for the dance community. Mr. Roxey has served as an adjunct
professor of dance at Raritan Valley Community College. He
has created, directed and taught in programs for organizations
such as Educational Services Commission, Matheny 's Medical
and Educational Center, Fellowship Farm, Crotchet Mountain
among others. He is also an active member of Dance NJ, Dance
USA, IPAY, APAP, Arts Presenters and others. Mr. Roxey currently
serves on the Board of Trustees of Dance/USA as Managers’
Council Chair, program committie chair, Manager Council Chair
and an ex-officio member of the Board. He is married to his
partner of over 22 year, Melissa Roxey and is the proud father
of his two beautiful children Mirabel and Benjamin Roxey.

Ann Roxey

Melissa
Roxey is from Ringoes New Jersey. She began her studies with
the syllabi of The Royal Academy of Dancing at 5 years of
age. Before beginning her professional career at the age of
17, she studied at the School of American Ballet, North Carolina
School of the Arts, The Joffrey Ballet School and Pacific
Northwest Ballet School. She finished her training with world-renowned
teacher Maggie Black in NYC. Mrs. Roxey danced as a soloist
with American Repertory Ballet then as a principal with Dayton
Ballet. Among her most acclaimed roles, her favorites have
been Sugar Plum Fairy in Dermot Burke's "The Nutcracker"
and Odile in Stewart Sebastian's "Swan Lake." She
has performed with numerous regional dance companies and taught
at many public and private schools around the country. She
is currently executive director of The Mill Ballet School,
as well as artistic associate of Roxey Ballet. Mrs. Roxey
is the founder and creative director of Wheels in Motion,
which is part of the Arts Access Program at Matheny School
and Hospital in Peapack, New Jersey. In addition, Mrs. Roxey
works actively with Artists in Residence, bringing the art
of dance to thousands of schoolchildren in the tri-state region.
She continues to advance and preserve the art of dance as
she conducts her highly successful residencies, lectures,
seminars and workshops throughout the country.

Carrie received
her training from the Washington School of Ballet and
North Carolina School of the Arts, She received her B.A. from
the University of Maryland with a degree in Theatre and Dance.
She has been in the Broadway National touring companies of
Oklahoma!, Victor/Victoria, Showboat, and is currently
the Assistant Choreographer of The Wedding Singer,
on tour nationwide. She now spends most of her time as an
associate choreographer, cleaning up Broadway shows all around
the country. She has been seen in regional productions around
the country including, Aida, Joseph…, Will Rogers
Follies, Oklahoma!, and A Chorus Line.
T.V. and movie credits include “All My Children”,
“As the Works Turns”, “Law & Order:
SVU”, “The Book of Daniel”, QVC, “The
Stepford Wives”, and many commercials nationwide.
She is thrilled to be working with the Roxey Ballet and in
the world of dance once again.
Marc
St-Pierre
Marc St-Pierre is from Montreal, Canada. He
started ballet at age 8, after three years of training in
the canadian gymnastics program. He began ballet at the Academie
de ballet classique de Montreal. In 1998, he was admitted
at the prestigious Ecole Superieur de Danse du Quebec, one
of Canada's three best ballet schools. From 2000 to 2005,
he had the chance to study under Samuel Abramian, from the
Bolshoï Academy, and Francoise Vaussenat, form the Ballet
de l'Opera de Paris. His training includes working with international
choreographers such as Christophe Garcia (France), Frederico
Tavernini (Italy), Brian McDonnald (Canada), Mario Radakovski
(Slovakia) and Miguel Robles (Argentina). Marc has performed
with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal, Ballet Ouest
de Montreal, Gleich Contemporary Dances, ABB. He is delighted
to be a member of Roxey Ballet..
Shalena
Tomassini
Shalena Tomassini has
been a student and member of the Roxey organization since
1997. Ms. Tomassini began her training at the Matheny School
and Hospital's "Arts Access Program" in Peapack,
NJ under the direction of Mark Roxey. She has choreographed
and performed in original works such as "Angel",
"Mother and I", "Xcess of Four", "Celebrating
Diversity" and more. Shalena was invited to perform at
the prestigious International VSA Arts Conference and Awards.
She recently started working and training with the well known
Kitty Lunn, a former Roxey Ballet member.
Evalina
Wallis Cain
Evalina Wallis Cain
is originally from Maryland where her early training was in
the Cecchetti method with Pamela Moore's National Ballet Company
school. In 2001 Wallis was the first runner-up at the East
Coast Committee of the Cecchetti Council of America’s Scholarship
Auditions. As a result, she trained on scholarship at the
Council’s International Summer School in Grosse Isle, Michigan
and at Cecchetti Centre London at Tring Mansion in England.
While still in high school she received the Cecchetti Council’s
Advanced Professional certification. Wallis continued her
training on scholarship at The Florida State University where
she earned a B.F.A. in Dance in only three years, Magna Cum
Laude. At F.S.U., Wallis had the benefit of training with
Suzanne Farrell, Jawole Zollar, Anthony Morgan, Anjali Austin,
Rick McCullough, Shelia Humphreys and Dan Wagoner. In addition,
for two summers Wallis honed her contemporary ballet skills
in Alonzo King’s Lines program in San Francisco. Before joining
Roxey Ballet in 2005, Wallis danced with the National Ballet
Company and the Tallahassee Ballet. Complementing her dance
training, she is also a Certified Gyrotonic Instructor. Since
joining Roxey Ballet, Wallis has danced in the original cast
of Wheels and Bodies in Motion, Garden of Buble, and Bread
for your Heart. Other roles include Lead Spanish in The Nutcracker,
Garnet Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, and a Witch in Dracula. She
is also an original cast member of Roxey's groundbreaking
Othello.
Brent
Whitney
Brent
Whitney is originall from Traverse City, MI, Brent performed
with the Milwaukee Ballet for four years before moving to
NYC to pursue a freelancing career. He is a member of
Fugate/Bahari Ballet NY and also performs as a guest artist
all over the country. He has enjoyed performing in works
by George Balanchine, Mark Godden, Paul Taylor, and Lila York.
Brent loves Bikram Yoga and the great outdoors! He is proud
to be a member of Roxey Ballet.
Janessa
Cornell
Janessa Cornell began
her training in Clifton Park, NY, with Beth Bench-Hartle.
She also studied with David Otto at the Albany Dance Institute,
and Pamara Perry at the Adirondack Repertory Dance Theater,
performing in numerous Nutcracker productions and original
repertoire. She then studied for two years at the Nutmeg Conservatory
for the Arts. She has attended summer programs at the Boston
Ballet and the Colorado Ballet. Her favorite roles include
Arabian in The Nutcracker and “Prelude”
in Les Sylphides with the Nutmeg Ballet. Janessa
is an original cast member of Roxey Ballet's Carmen.
Todd
Fox
A
native of Miami Florida, Todd is happy to be making his Roxey
Ballet debut. Throughout
his professional career, Mr. Fox has danced as a Principal
Dancer with leading
dance companies around the world including South Africa's
Ballet Theatre Afrikan, Ireland’s
Cork City Ballet, Yugoslavia’s Serbian National Theatre Ballet,
Scotland’s Ballet West, Venezuela's Ballet Metropolitano de
Caracas, Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, Isle of Man’s Manx
Ballet Company, and the USA’s Cleveland Ballet. Quoted
by the New York Times' Jack Anderson as, "most notable
for his effortless jumps", Mr. Fox has performed a wide
range of classical and neo-classical repertoire including
such favorites as Adam Lavrosky’s Giselle, Igor Youskevitch’s
Coppleia, Anthony Tudor’s Continuo, Roland Petit’s Carmen,
and George Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux. Todd
has know and worked with Mr Roxey for over 10 years and is
happy to be a part of the company 2008/9 seasons.
Joanna
DeFelice
Joanna
DeFelice began studying ballet at the age of six at Abigail
Francisco’s School of Classical Ballet in her native Maryland.
She continued at the Kirov Academy of Ballet, graduating
with a six year professional certificate. Joanna spent
her summers training with American Ballet Theatre, Miami City
Ballet, and Kaatsbaan, and after graduation attended Debbie
Allen’s Dance Academy in Los Angeles. Joanna has studied
ballet with Adrienne Dellas, Alla Sizova, and Alla Khaniashivilli;
modern with Stephen Smith, Karen McDonald, and Erin Barnett;
character with Vladimir Djhoulhatze; and jazz under
Terry Beeman and Constance Walsh. Joanna has enjoyed
performing in ‘La Bayadere’ with the Universal Ballet Company
at the Kennedy Center, roles in ‘The Nutcracker’ and other
classics, original choreography with Dance Harrison Street,
productions with Debbie Allen at the Kennedy Center, UCLA,
and in New York. Other credits include an international fitness
video, a music video with ‘Good Charlotte’, an NFL television
commercial, and the annual Dancers Responding to Aids gala
in New York. Joanna is excited to become a member of
Roxey Ballet this year.
Julia
Cobble
Originally
from New Mexico, Julia started her ballet training at age
six. She studied with Washington Ballet in Washington, DC
most of her life, getting to perform with the company as a
student in the company's productions of Giselle, Balanchine's,
A Midsummer Night's Dream, Serenade and The Nutcracker. She
performed with Ballet Memphis and Ajkun Ballet Theatre where
she had the opportunity to tour to Italy and Albania to perform
Faust Walpurgis Night and Aegina of Spartacus. Julia is excited
be a member of Roxey Ballet.
